Why stay at Avalon?

It's the Little Things . . .

Book to Stay

Inverness is a city in the Scottish Highlands. It is the administrative centre for the Highland council area, and is regarded as the capital of the Highlands of Scotland.

Crowned by a pink crenellated castle and lavishly decorated with flowers, Inverness is a thriving city with a rich variety of places to visit and things to do both in the city and around. The city boasts a number of historic buildings in the Old Town that can be appreciated while browsing the city shops. There is a great selection of places to eat and drink too with peaceful areas close to the city centre for relaxing and a great variety of places to stay. The city itself is small, compact and easy to get around.

Avalon is located on the A82 Tourist Route ten minutes drive from Loch Ness and a short walk to Inverness City Centre, the River Ness, Bught Park, Eden Court Theatre and Inverness Castle. The walk to the city is alongside the river which makes that journey even more enjoyable.

There is also many attractions around the city - relive one of Scotland’s most famous battles at Culloden Battlefield, see a school of dolphins in the nearby Moray Firth or cruise down the Caledonian Canal to the world-famous Loch Ness.

Scotland isn't all that big. Inverness is the heart of the Highlands and most places are only an hour or so of relaxed driving away. So why would you want to stay at a different place every night during your visit to the Highlands?

Our advice is to relax, unpack and stay unpacked for a few days. Then after breakfast do whatever you feel like - and don't rush back - your room will still be here for you. Avalon has no curfew at night - you can sneak in quietly and relax after a busy day exploring or just doing your thing.

Now isn’t that a good idea? We'll even give you a discount if you stay more than 2 nights during the quieter months – after all it's a lot less work for us, and we enjoy getting to know you better.

Start the day with our tasty breakfast cooked as you want it and made with local produce.

Golfing, boating, cycling and all manner of outdoor pursuits are to be found in abundance in the region as well as a wealth of historical venues.

We can advise you on the best places to see and how to book exciting activities.

At the end of a busy day you will find that Inverness has a variety of eating venues to suit all tastes and budgets. Then back to Avalon to finish the day with a hot shower and a good nights sleep in our comfortable beds.

Some comments made by previous visitors on Trip Advisor:

Our room was immaculate and reflected Val's artistic flair . . .

Not only was our room clean and tastefully decorated (we stayed in the "Nessie Room"), it had everything we needed, including a decanter of sherry!

There are many "little" touches which make it a really great place to stay

Their rooms are well designed and small details are very well taken care of
